Our History

CS CU through the years!

CS Credit Union is nestled between the foothills of North Carolina and Lake Norman

CS Credit Union was initially chartered in 1986 as MA/-COM Employees Credit Union, a spin-off from two previous credit unions, Siecor Credit Union and Superior Cable Credit Union. MA/-COM was established as the credit union for employees of family members of the forerunner of the present-day Select Employee Group, CommScope, Inc. of North Carolina.

In 1987 the Field of Membership was expanded to include Cable Home Communications Corporation, a subsidiary of General Instruments, and Prodelin Corporation. Another expansion in 1989 brought in NC employees of another division of General Instruments, Videocipher. The credit union experienced several name changes through the years along with changes in the Select Employer Group. The name was changed to CommScope Credit Union in 1994. The most recent name change occurred in 2016 with the adoption of “CS Credit Union,” establishing a separate name brand and identity for the credit union. In 2021 CS Credit Union was designated an independent business entity separate from CommScope, while retaining CommScope US employees and family members as the focus of the core Field of Membership.

With the new name and logo, CS Credit Union has continued to grow and provide the same excellent service our members have enjoyed for 35 years. Our products and services have grown through the years as well allowing CS Credit Union to become a full-service financial institution. We continue to embrace and be committed to the core credit union philosophy of “People Helping People”. Everyone who becomes a member of the credit union remains a member even if their place of employment changes because “Once a Member, Always a Member.”
